Israel- Palestine

The following take on the ongoing conflict was written just a day after the Hamas'  attack on Israel grounds and unfortunately while writing this, I had predicted the outcome of this surprise attack:

Oct 8, 2023

My view on the terrorist attacks on Israel by Hamas based on the internet exposure and media coverage :

This situation reminds me of Bin Laden’s attack on 9/11. He knew the aftermath of the attack with his brazen terrorism that he practically invited the US into an invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan and he just let it happen. He used terror to force the US into doing something that was against its own interest, with no concerns about the cost of his own country men’s lives. And he was kind of successful. Not sure how in terms of lives and suffering, but the US spent far more treasure than those terrorists, only to ultimately pull out everything years later.

So this time too, it went down like this. Hamas is a terrorist organization, not the entire Palestine and we would do well to remember that. Also lets not ignore the crimes committed by Israel in the past against the Palestine. If this is what their strategy is, it will go on just like they wanted it to – Get Israel to bomb Gaza left right and centre, create more orphans and angry family members of fallen  “freedom fighters”, recruit those orphans, indoctrinate them with hatred, repeat the cycle again.

Hamas is a terrorist organization full of extremists, who are just thinking about themselves  and had zero interests of Palestinians in mind when they carried a brutal attack on civilans in Israel. The senior leadership of Hamas lives in Qatar, and works for Iran. We must see everything through the lens that this is just another political game for old men who couldn’t care less how many lives are lost as long as they get to have power and hold on people.

Another aspect that quiet shocks me, is the absolute failure of the Israeli intelligence services and their intel. It is very puzzling that Israel’s iron dome air defense system, and MOSSAD, apparently one of the best there is, completely failed and unguarded when more than 1000 rockets just hit their soil.

Even more shocking is the way with which Hamas carried out the attacks . The resources, the coordination and sophistication seems way strategic for Hamas, who isn’t much for meticulous planning, given their forte has always been suicide bombing.

On one hand, even without publicly praising and showing their support for Hamas’ actions, everyone almost immediately knew that Iran had been backing them up with all the necessary arms and ammunition and I understand that even intelligence agencies like the CIA have their share of failures, but Hamas executing a modern day warfare  i.e.  Paragliding into the territory, drone attacks etc.,  on a third world country, with all its resources and succeeding is definitely not sitting right.

Israel is a country with one of the most powerful intelligence services that can very easily track down Hamas type activities, meaning on MOSSAD’s worst day, they should have seen this coming. With enough evidences around the world time and again to prove that everything isn't exactly black and white, this major intel failure definitely opens up room for a lot of speculations.

When you practically vandalize their property, unlawfully occupy their land with buildings and settlements, actively take part in ethnic cleansing, attack their houses, religious institutions and people in broad daylight, not to forget encouraging systemic racism over the years, resistance is bound to happen. But the attacks carried by Hamas is definitely not just the result of years of oppression as this was way too coincidental considering Israel and Saudi Arabia were moving going towards normalization and peace talks and almost joining hands, signifying a truce, which could not have benefitted Iran, a common enemy for both. If you are someone who always thrives or benefits from chaos and bloodshed, this would be last thing you would want to happen, no matter what the cost.

Amongst all this, we are missing another possibility of a presence of a silent contender – Russia. Given that Russia being allies with Iran and Putin’s growing friendship with Raisi since the past two years, Hamas’ drones being easily able to air raid Israel’s defense system, while the world diverts its attention from Ukraine does not seem far fetched for a possibility.

Once again, Israel – Not a victim like it makes it out to be. But given the west’s bigotry, influence over the media and its reputation for whitewashing everything, Israel just earned a full huge response assault that they probably were looking for. While not ignoring Israel’s crimes – Hamas and is supporters just lost their ethical ground by kidnapping and butchering civilians, and tourists. The whole world will either favour or at least be indifferent towards or stay mum. Even though the Arab countries have always voiced their support and gone full “free Palestine” outside, its just “all talk and no show”. KSA, Egypt and Jordan absolutely would not want any smoke with respect to providing refuge. Egypt has militarized and closed their borders for Palestine ever since Hamas took over.

Truth is, Nobody wins in war. The leaders in the authority are the only ones that claim / celebrate victory or vow to destroy the other in failure, but ultimately it’s the civilians, in this case, innocents in Israel and Gaza ( going to face the heat in the coming days) that have no say in anything but will get destroyed or live with the trauma for the rest of their days.

Wars are rarely rational acts. Add religious fanaticism to it, that’s hellscape for you.
